Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok’s Dazzling Ode to Latin America

September 23, 2023

El Sabor de Kimpton Brunch is a monthly affair

Bangkok always finds ways to surprise even the most jaded palate and Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok has once again turned up the heat as ittakes patrons on an exquisite culinary journey, transposing the sizzling flavours of Latin America right to the heart of Southeast Asia. After its resounding success in September, the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok’ s ”El Sabor de Kimpton Brunch” is back on October 1st; it’s a monthly affair. Another opportunity to connect with vibrancy of Latin America. You imagine mouth-watering tortillas, tangy ceviches, and heart-warming arepas, but it is more, much more. To call it just a brunch would be an understatement. It’s a salute to the rich heritage of the Latin community and a celebration. As one appreciative teen put it – this is how you make buffets fun!

Diners can expect a lavish spread that is nothing short of a fiesta. From the spiced avenues of Mayan-Caribbean delicacies to the eclectic fusion of Nikkei cuisine from Peru, the offerings promise a rich mosaic of flavours. No stone is left unturned as the brunch showcases the culinary jewels of Mexico, from the coastal specialties of Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chiapas, to the hearty allure of the Argentine-Italian meat scene. Add to this creative cocktails and sundry other libations from sparkling wine and beer to mocktails and juices – It’s three hours well spent.

Lamberto Valdez Lara, the culinary maestro behind this feat, has intricately woven his Mayan descent into the brunch’s fabric. The concept explains Chef Lamberto, “Began as a conversation between friends on the back of the successful Chili Fest we hosted earlier this year. We love food, and we love to celebrate with each other. As we say in Mexico, food, drinks and dancing equals a fiesta.”

Transposing the sizzling flavours of Latin America right to the heart of Southeast Asia

What sets this brunch apart from others is the rotating roster of local Latin chefs and mixologists. Their unique stories and recipes will intertwine with Lamberto’s vision, making each month a fresh canvas. To truly soak in the Latin spirit, DJ Camillo spins out the rhythms. Then there’s the Accordion Player. And the energetic beats of the Rumberos, a 4-piece live band. Turning it into a true fiesta are captivating performances by Madame Rouge and dancers –salsa, flamenco, and bachata. Tables groan under the weight of all the deliciousness and then there are the al la carte options served at your table – from Argentinian Asado style meat to braised lobster and from wagyu beef tacos to Mexican style steak and eggs, it’s a carefully curated list, one that I expect will change every month. It’shard not to try them all!

This is not just a meal but a mesmerizing journey. You will eat, you will dance and you will celebrate life. That’s the kind of thing you do here. Patrick Both, Area General Manager, Luxury and Lifestyle Brands, IHG Thailand, sums it up beautifully,: “No two months will be the same. We want the culinary and ambience to ‘sing’ and it’s ok if that changes. We would also like to highlight local ‘Latin’ chef’s - bringing their experiences and roots to Stock.Room monthly.”

And truly, in the vastness of Stock.Room, on the 5th floor of Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, every first Sunday of the month promises a symphony of tastes, sights, and sounds, echoing the pulse of Latin America. Beyond the plates and glasses, the brunch becomes a sensory carnival. As the Rumberos strum and hum, and Madame Rouge paints the air with flamenco, salsa, and bachata, one can’t help but be swept away by the fervour.

Fiesta Time

For those eager to immerse themselves in this experience, the brunch packages range from THB 2,500++ to THB 3,500++ for adults (THB 1250++ per child), ensuring a memorable experience without denting the pocket.

Here’s to Bangkok, where the world comes to dine, and where Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok has crafted yet another memorable chapter in its ever-evolving culinary saga. With brunch packages tailored to suit varying preferences, this Latin American escapade is not just a feast for the palate, but for the soul. Bangkok has long been a melting pot of cultures and cuisines. This October, thanks to Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, the city gets another dash of Latin zest, promising an unforgettable Sunday.
